Coconut Coir makes a great bedding for worms. This material is completely natural, holds water and also provides air pockets in the composting mixture, which benefits the worms within it. In the first few days of a new worm bin, it’s important that the worms get accustomed quickly to their new environment. Thanks to its fluffy soil-like texture Coco coir is a very hospitable environment for worms.
Also, unlike Peat Moss, a non-renewable resourc, coconut coir is environmentally friendly as it is a natural by-product of coconut harvesting done using sustainable methods.
Coconut coir fibers expand about 6 times in volume when soaked in water. You will get approximately 1.5 litres from this 200g brick. SOAK YOUR BRICK THUROUGHLY in a bucket before adding to your worm bin.
