Coconut Coir Brick

$4.99

Coconut Coir is made from the fibrous brown husk that surrounds a coconut. It makes a great bedding for worms and is excellent growing medium for all types of plants. Coir is an ideal alternative to Peat Moss (a non-renewable resource) as it is a natural by-product of coconut harvesting, done using sustainable methods.

Coconut coir fibers expand about 6 times in volume when soaked in water. You will get approximately 1.5 litres per 200g brick.  Use for bedding for your worms, and then put in your garden when the worms have processed it!

SOAK YOUR BRICK THUROUGHLY in a bucket before adding to your worm bin.

Or just use straight in your garden. Coconut coir fibers are superior to peat moss and rock wool for structural stability, water absorption, drainage and doesn’t decompose as quickly lasting longer in your soil. When coco coir bricks are included as a soil amendment, your plants require less fertilizers, develop more elaborate and stronger root systems, and are more resistant to disease, pathogens and weeds.

Description

Coconut Coir makes a great bedding for worms. This material is completely natural, holds water and also provides air pockets in the composting mixture, which benefits the worms within it. In the first few days of a new worm bin, it’s important that the worms get accustomed quickly to their new environment.  Thanks to its fluffy soil-like texture Coco coir is a very hospitable environment for worms.

Also, unlike Peat Moss, a non-renewable resourc, coconut coir is environmentally friendly as it is a natural by-product of coconut harvesting done using sustainable methods.
